WHAT WE CAN DO
Resolution Legal, P.L. offers legal counseling and representation in a variety of practice areas (we also offer representation in unemployment compensation telephone hearings for a flat fee of $550.00. See below for further details). Because we so rarely involve ourselves in litigation, we are able to frankly evaluate the fact patterns presented by our clients without any tension between our clients' interests and our own. As you likely know by now, the "free consultations" offered by so many other attorneys and firms typically boil down to the attorney (or her paralegal, in many cases) questioning, evaluating, and interviewing YOU, rather than the other way around. All too often, it is the attorneys, paralegals, court reporters, jury consultants, etc., who benefit from the filing a lawsuit and the ensuing litigation.
Our attorneys can:
* Help You Understand Rights, Obligations, and Options
* Help You Become Better Informed so that You can Move
Forward with Caution, Because of the Risk, Confusion,
Uncertainty,Potential Costs, and Unpleasant Surprises
Associated with our Broken Legal System
* Provide You With a Valuable and Objective Second
Opinion
* Help You Negotiate and Settle Your Claims
* Draft and Send Correspondence on Your Behalf. Often,
Your Claims or Dispute Can Be Resolved Through
a Letter or Phone Call by one of Our Attorneys.
* Respond to a Letter from Someone's Attorney
* Prepare Wills, Trust Documents, Living Wills, Advance
Health Care Directives, and other Estate Documents
* Deal with Insurance Company Representatives
* All in Complete Confidentiality
Our unique legal counseling approach differs markedly from the traditional (and typically unsatisfactory) approach: because we so rarely participate in litigation, we are able to freely discuss with our clients the many potential downsides of litigation, which include stress, time missed from work and from family, long periods of delay, and the prospect of owing the other side thousands of dollars for their costs, and even for their legal fees in some circumstances. If your situation is one of the small handful that nevertheless seems suited to proceeding with litigation, we are able to recommend and refer you to experienced local practitioners who specialize in the relevant area of law.
As you can see, our approach is much more collaborative and innovative than the traditional courtroom crapshoot model. We often seek resolution of our clients' claims via negotiation or mediation prior to any lawsuit being filed. It has been our experience that early, pre-litigation resolution of our clients' claims and disputes serves our clients' best interests, and saves them the stress of litigation, the time missed from work for endless depositions, hearings, trials, and post-trial proceedings, and the other vagaries and hidden costs of our nation's broken litigation model. A model which has, unfortunately, served mainly to enrich attorneys, court reporters, expert witnesses, jury consultants, and the like, while the parties to the lawsuit and their loved ones get fed through the litigation meatgrinder.
Our attorneys have extensive experience representing consumers, workers, and other individuals in a wide variety of practice areas, including:
* Labor and Employment (Unpaid Overtime, Discrimination, Harassment, Whistleblower Retaliation, FMLA Discrimination, etc.)
* Unemployment Compensation Hearings (scroll down to
the next section for further information)
* Consumer/Creditor Disputes
* Disputes with Debt Collectors Concerning Violation of
State and Federal Debt Collection Laws
* Lemon Law Violations
* Family Law: Divorce, Spousal Support, Child Support,
Custody
* Foreclosure Defense
* Condominium Deposit Disputes
* Wills, Trusts, Estates, Living Wills, Powers of Attorney
* Mediations and Arbitrations
* Contract Disputes
* Business/Personal Disputes
* Landlord/Tenant Disputes
If you have separated from your employer and have a telephone hearing in the near future concerning your eligibility for unemployment benefits, make sure to call us to discuss your options. We represent workers in unemployment compensation hearings for $550.00, which includes the participation of one of our attorneys during the hearing, as well as 2 hours of attorney preparation prior to the hearing. This time will be spent eliciting the facts and circumstances of your employment and separation/termination, and marshaling evidence, preparing you and your witnesses to testify or to provide written statements, etc. There are obviously no guarantees, but you will stand a much better chance of having your eligibility to these important benefits upheld if you are represented by experienced, competent legal counsel.
During the hearing, our attorney will make opening and closing statements as appropriate, ask questions of you, your witnesses, and of your former employer's witnesses, make appropriate legal arguments and objections, and guide the judge or hearing officer towards a better understanding of your eligibility to benefits. Do not "shoot from the hip." Retain the services of an attorney experienced in these matters so that your side of the separation is properly brought to light, and so that specious and misleading claims by your former employer are scrutinized properly.
Our attorneys will also be able to discern, and highlight for the judge or hearing officer, possible unworthy employer motivations for your termination/separation, including discrimination (age, sex, race, sexual orientation, usage of medical leave, insurance expense, retaliation for whistleblowing, etc.). Our attorneys will also be able to combat specious or inaccurate allegations that you committed some sort of "misconduct" that allegedly justified your termination, or that you somehow "abandoned" your job. See below for links to important resources for the recently unemployed. Call our office at (800) 763-3305, Monday through Friday, to discuss your unemployment compensation claim. We are a small shop, so if we do not answer, leave a message and we will get back to you shortly. It likely means that we are on the other line or at the courthouse. Alternatively, send us an email, below, in the "Contact Us" section, and one of our attorneys will be in touch shortly to discuss the matter with you.
Monday - Friday: 9am - 5pm
We accept all major credit cards
